Women’s Enterprise Growth Programme 2024

Overview

An exciting new programme to support women aged 18-35 living or working in London and Liverpool to develop the skills, strengths and networks required to grow purpose-led enterprises and in turn create new jobs for underserved communities.

The Women’s Enterprise Growth Programme is run by The School for Social Entrepreneurs with support from Youth Business International (YBI) and funded by Standard Chartered Foundation as part of Futuremakers by Standard Chartered.

 

What’s involved

We’ll give you a free 9-month learning programme designed to help you grow your organisation’s impact.  We’ll support you to build sustainability and resilience, increase customer acquisition and earn more income. The course will consist of:

  • 8 days of focused study (a combination of in-person and online)
  • 4 action learning sessions (find out more about action learning here)
  • Bespoke 1:1 business development and modelling support 
  • Access to Contract Readiness support 
  • Opportunities to build supportive peer networks  
  • The chance to pitch for one of four Match Trading grants of up to £7,000.
  • A graduation event in March 2025 to celebrate your achievements

What you’ll learn from this course

Programme content will be tailored to meet the needs of the group but is likely to include:

  • Leading with confidence
  • Costing and pricing
  • Sales and marketing
  • Environmental and social impact
  • Personal resilience and wellbeing including navigating imposter syndrome
  • Income generation and accessing finance
  • Procurement and contract readiness
  • HR and employment law
  • Financial literacy

Who can apply?

We are particularly keen to support entrepreneurs from historically underserved groups, for example care leavers, ex-offenders, refugees, single parents and carers. Additionally, applicants must:

  • have been running their enterprise for less than 5 years  
  • have an annual income of between £10,000 and £100,000 
  • be creating social and/or green impact 
  • be 18-35 years old (at the point of application)  
  • be living or working in Greater London or the Liverpool City Region
  • have the right to work in the UK

Dates and location

The course will run in both Liverpool and London between July 2024 and March 2025 (full dates are available in the application guidance notes).
