Measuring social impact helps you understand the difference your organisation is making and how effective your work really is. Whether you’re applying for funding, planning for growth, or simply want to improve what you do, being able to assess your impact is essential.
This introductory course is designed for people who are new to social impact measurement. It will help you get to grips with the key concepts in a clear, practical way — including navigating common jargon, understanding why measuring impact matters, and knowing where to begin. You’ll explore what funders and stakeholders typically want to see, consider what data you might collect (and when), and leave with a tangible action plan to start measuring and communicating your impact with confidence.

This workshop is delivered live online via Zoom. It’s interactive and practical, with clear explanations, guided reflection and time to shape an action plan that suits your organisation. Joining details will be emailed to you ahead of the session.
You’ll leave with a personalised action plan to help you take your first steps in measuring social impact, including prompts to help you identify what to measure, what information to gather, and how to get started.

This workshop is designed for charity professionals, social entrepreneurs, and anyone new to social impact measurement. No prior experience is needed and you don’t have to work in charity or social enterprise to join.
This workshop will be led by one of SSE’s specialist in-house facilitators. Each year, these facilitators deliver thousands of hours of learning and support to social enterprises across the UK. They draw on SSE’s long experience of working with funders big and small to help a diverse range of people strengthen their organisations and increase their impact.
Our workshops are designed for people looking to create impact, but anyone, anywhere can join.
