Yep, I’ve resorted to Pete Tong catchphrases for a subject line. How has you week been? I’ve had better, I’ve had worse. It’s been one of those. But the sun is out, it’s nearly the end of the working week and I have a glorious weekend with no plans ahead of me. The possibilities are endless. (I will of course end up doing nothing worthwhile. That’s how these things work).
A good selection of news this week, hopefully there’s something of interest in there for you.
Enjoy your weekend!
The entire SSE team is working from home today as we are having a new phone system installed in the office (it’s rumoured that our current arrangement was used by Alexander Graham Bell to make the first ever phone call). I will of course be following standard working from home operating procedure:
- 8:00am: send a whole office email to make it look like I’ve started work early.
- 8.01am – 5.59pm: watch TV, have a two hour pub lunch, play a round of golf.
- 6:00pm: send a whole office email to make it look like I’ve finished work late.
- Monday morning: have conversation with colleagues about how it’s so much more productive working from home because I can really concentrate on getting things done.
Don’t pretend that you don’t know what I’m talking about.
Enjoy this week’s news, I’m off to work on my putting…*
*Note to bosses: I am of course joking. I can’t practise my putting while watching Jeremy Kyle.
by David McGlashan.
This week I spoke to Clive Tuck, Chief Executive of The Hub Yeovil, a charity keen to build a market place of businesses and social enterprises that can trade with one another as part of the wider ‘Buy Social‘ campaign…
London based readers, put down your chai latte because I am about to shock you: there is a world outside the capital. I know, it took me a while to process it too.
For the first time ever, this week’s news contains no news specific to London. An excellent opportunity for us denizens of London to learn about the world beyond the M25…
(I am of course writing in jest. If you would like to complain about an organisation headquartered in London sending out a newsletter that appears to make light of the disproportionate amount of social enterprise funding and support that London receives please contact our comms assistant email@example.com – he deals with that sort of thing.)
Enjoy this week’s news and have a great weekend!
Regular readers may well have spotted that Have I Got Social Enterprise News For You is occasionally tied (loosely) to the main current affairs of the week. But it’s all just so bleak at the moment, so I think I’m going to put my head in the sand and avoid the news for a while. This does leave me with rather less than usual to write about, however. Fortunately there’s some really interesting stuff going on in the world of social enterprise this week…
Have a good weekend
